BIOGRAPHY

Termini - Drowning #2 - $500.jpg

I was born in the Northland of Kansas City Missouri. I still reside in the same area. I became interested in abstract art at an early age and found my passion and talent in working with pastels when I entered high school in 1993.

My art teacher praised my linework and shading that was implemented into my abstract pieces, stating he had not seen such talent come from a student. During my high school years, I won various awards for different pieces. In my senior year, I won Artist of the Year. Ever since then I never stopped creating.

I am extremely proud of my recent feature on FOX 4 KC morning show. I was interviewed on my artwork and how I go about creating my pieces. My favorite part about abstract art is that everyone views the same piece somewhat differently. While I create my art as an expression of my thoughts and feelings, I want my art to be interesting and engaging, allowing an audience to get lost in it and find something within it that has meaning to them.

I also have an eye for finding abstract throughout everyday life using my camera. What may be overlooked by someone else, I find a way to turn it into a digital abstract piece. My angles and use of natural lighting, along with digital shading enhance each piece. I go through many tedious hours inside of many days of re- texturing and manipulating the photo on different photo-altering apps until I am satisfied with the transformed design.

I have multiple current influences, my son being one of them. My son is my inspiration and an influence on recent abstract works.

NARRATIVE

Artist JoAnna Termini has an abundance of passion for color and design when it comes to her abstract artwork. She displays detail and control when using pastels. She has the ability to make the pastels change their characteristics on canvas and on paper. By only using her fingertips when shading, her pieces have a depth of color often only found using oils or watercolor.

Her artistic talent doesn’t stop there. She also has an eye for finding abstract throughout everyday life using her camera. What may be overlooked by someone else, she finds a way to turn it into an abstract piece. Her angles and use of natural lighting, along with digital shading enhances each piece. You will find her work in digital media demonstrates her creativity beyond one medium.

JoAnna brings the beauty out of anything she photographs, and out of every surface she adds pastel to. The artwork made by artist JoAnna Termini will not only enhance your wall space, it will brighten the mood of whatever building it is in. This is because each piece has been and will be created with the absolute love of art.
